Today at 4:44, Jay-Z dropped the final installment of his 4:44 visual series, "Family Feud." The visual hosted a star-studded cast consisting of Jay, himself, Beyoncé, Blue Ivy Carter, Rosario Dawson, Constance Wu, Trevante Rhodes, Jessica Chastain, Omari Hardwick, Michael B. Jordan, Niecy Nash, Brie Larson, Mindy Kaling, Janet Mock, and more. Directed by the inimitable Ava DuVernay, "Family Feud" tells the story of future President Blue Ivy Carter and her all-female cabinet in 2050, rewriting the Constitution to make America great.

The stunning video is equal parts music video, fashion show, and highbrow drama. In the video, Jay confesses his sins to Beyoncé, who plays a Pope-like character, while present-day Blue Ivy sits in a church pew. References to Catholicism, Shakespeare, Octavia Butler and more dominate the nearly 8-minute long video, but it still feels authentic and true to Jay's (and Bey's) artistry. The video gives hope that this multi-cultural coalition of strong women of color in the Cabinet will soon be more than just a father's fantasy. Not to mention the first half of the short film, scored by Flying Lotus, has technically exquisite camera-work and the overall editing is worthy of an Academy Award.

"Family Feud" gifted us the depth and tenacity that big-budget Hollywood films too often robs us of. The video was released less than two hours ago, and there are so many references and allusions to unpack. This is a music video, a true testament to the music video greats and a testament to the power of people, specifically women, of color, from the present onwards.
