Review: "IDOL" Might Truly Break BTS into U.S. Pop Radio

Last night, the biggest boyband in the world, BTS, released the final installment of their Love Yourself series, Love Yourself 結 'Answer.' On that album, Nicki Minaj is the sole featured vocalist as she delivers a solid rap verse on "IDOL." Overall, "IDOL" is an uptempo EDM song that is anchored by a deep, pulsating bass, but BTS's hip-hop roots are still present throughout the track. The boys and rap and sing with all the passion in the world, and Nicki matches their energy with a fun verse that shouts out John Mayer, her new alter ego, Chun-Li, and incorporates her trademark comical wordplay.

While the group's "FAKE LOVE" became the first Korean song to debut in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100, this "IDOL" remix might be there U.S. radio breakthrough. According to Billboard, Minaj has had 39 songs hit the Mainstream Top 40 Radio chart, with 9 of them going top ten. U.S. Pop Radio began to embrace BTS with "Fake Love" But with a little over half the song in English, this will be easier to break into the U.S. mainstream. Between the BTS Army and the Barbz alone, this will probably debut top ten, but pop radio will make or break the song's longevity."IDOL" is the one, the song is danceable, unique, and extremely infectious. It seems like BTS will continue to break down barriers for K-Pop artists in the U.S.!
